Hanumanasana in handstand assist

Come to down dog. Raise leg and have assistant pull leg away so that you activate inner spiral to lift the second leg up to handstand. Put one leg back behind you and let the other leg come forward into the splits. Squeeze legs toward the midline strongly. Assist pushes the back foot to help engage the legs.

Chaturanga Dandasana




Come to all fours. Place knees behind hips slightly. Root the arm bones bring the shoulders onto the back. Lower to a low push up. Look to the right and the left to check that the shoulder is level with the elbow. Engage the leg muscles, and press up into chatarunga maintaining the alignment of the shoulders


This assist for down dog emphasizes inner spiral and muscular energy. Place the strap around the calves and have student press shins into strap. Pull back on thighs to root femurs back into the body. Good for students struggling with wrist pain/pressure. Takes pressure off wrists.
